What drives you? Is it the sermon you heard today or your past experiences. Both matters, but we are designed by God to learn from our experiences. I had my first missionary trip to a remote village in Edo State, Nigeria. They served the Devil and were not ashamed to say it. They knew they were in bondage to the Devil, but didn’t know how to get out. There was only one church there; it was old and derelict. It was not effective because they asked for prayers – from strangers (us). This glaring need for Jesus by a people who were in bondage to Satan still spur me on, when my strength wanes or discouragement tries to drown me.

Mental Patterns in Psychology is a memory trace formed in your brain tissue to record something that you have experienced or partake of often. As you see, hear, feel, smell, sense or taste something, your brain forms a pattern of it. When you experience it again or even something close to it, your brain activates the existing memory trace or patterned thinking and you go on autopilot – you do without stress what is right or wrong. See the pattern of Abraham going to Egypt and Isaac’s impromptu decision to do same (Gen. 12:10-20; Gen. 20:1-4).

David and Nabal and Abigail’s words setting the pattern for his future behaviour when such came again. 2Sam. 16:5-14;1Sam. 25;

Man’s thoughts will always determine his actions- Isa. 59:7;Isa. 55:7; Gen. 6:5-7.

Our thoughts therefore should be positive, like Paul said in Philip. 4:8

Serengeti ecosystem is a geographical region spanning Northern Tanzania, covering about 30,000 km2 of land. The Serengeti National Park and several game reserves are included.

The ecosystem is divided into two, with a river full of crocodiles separating them. Animals in their thousands feed on one side while the other side gets replenished. When one side is depleted -no more food-they cross the river to access the green grass on the other side, regardless of the hungry cross waiting for them. Many get killed, while crossing by the cross, but that won’t stop them from crossing back when that side gets depleted, and it also won’t stop them from crossing again the next migrating cycle.

It is their law of survival – you don’t cross, you die of thirst and hunger. That’s the vision that spurs them on; that’s the vision that drowns the fear of crocodiles on their way.  Paul said we should learn from nature (Rm. 1:18-20). What experiences of God do you have.  Think on these; David said when he killed Goliath. 1Sam. 17:32-27 “And David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine. And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth. And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him. Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God. David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.”  Only Overcomers will enter heaven (Rev. 2:7,11,17,26…)) BE ONE!!!

    Life is a risk.

  3. Yes pastor, man’s thoughts will always determine his actions, As man thinketh so it is , therefore our thoughts must be positive. Just like when Paul said I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, he back it up with the spirit that empower him to overcome. Thanks sir

  4. Thought is very phenomenal to human being. This is because whatever he or she does, good, bad, and even ugly stems from the thought. God’s creation of the world came from His thought Gen. 1:1. Cain killing of his brother, Abel is as a result of thought Gen.4:8. May God renew my thought daily in Jesus name … Amen!
