All times are not the same. That’s just the way God has set things. And He did it so, so that coming generations may have past references to learn from, as they learn to live right, to please God.
Here are some scriptures to confirm “Deut. 4:6-10 Ps. 78:1-4, 1Cor. 10:6: Rm. 15:1-4
These scriptures tell it the way it is – learn from history. But there is one scripture that really lays it open. It’s found in Ecclesiastes 3:11 “He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.”
The active words there are beautiful and the world. As we look at the Hebrew word for the world, we would explain the word, beautiful as well.
The Hebrew word used for the world in their hearts is OLAM. It means according to Thayer: Long duration, antiquity, futurity, forever, ever, everlasting, evermore, perpetual, old, ancient, world.
Strong’s definition: generally, time out of mind (past or future), that is, (practically) eternity.
When lessons from the past (time out of mind) shapes our conduct positively in the present, we can be assured of eternity with God. Such a person is the person who has overcome the world.
The Greek word for world is KOSMOS- that’s what catches the word beautiful among what it stands for, according Thayer:
- an apt and harmonious arrangement or constitution, order, government
- ornament, decoration, i.e. the arrangement of the stars, ‘the heavenly hosts’. As the ornament of the heavens
- the ungodly multitude; the whole mass of men alienated from God, and therefore hostile to the cause of Christ.
- World affairs, the aggregate of things earthly
- The whole circle of earthly goods, endowments riches, advantages, pleasures, etc, which although hollow and frail and fleeting, stir desire, seduce from God and are obstacles to the cause of Christ.
As long as we are going to be seeing the beauty in this world we will not see the ugliness. Look again at the Thayer meanings – “rules and governance of a world being ruled by Satan (1John 5:19; Lk. 4:5-6); conglomeration (collection) of people who don’t want to have anything to do with God – wicked people. So what do you do? – Avoid the world; don’t do what they do, but live to be the example to them (Philip.2:12-16)
This will come alive as we look at the days of Noah later.
And if there is ever a time in history when we to live for God -display Christ, it is now, when we are moving rapidly towards the Rapture – going by the subtle signs the Lord is revealing.
This is the lesson that strikes you as you look at the lives of men who had been taken up in Rapture at one time or the other.
